Washoe Schools' Heath Morrison selected as finalist for national superintendent of year
Jan. 3, 2012The American Association of School Administrators has named Washoe County School District superintendent Heath Morrison one of four national finalists for the group’s 2012 AASA National Superintendent of the Year award.
Chosen from among 49 State Superintendents of the Year, Morrison and his fellow contenders are invited to the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 10, for a selection panel interview.
The Superintendent of the Year winner will be announced at the National Conference on Education on Feb. 16 in Houston.
Besides Morrison, the finalists are Diane L. Frost of Asheboro City Schools in North Carolina, Lorraine Lange of Roanoke County Public Schools in Virginia and Susan Smith Bunting of the Indian River School District in Selbyville, Del.
A $10,000 college scholarship will be presented in the name of the National Superintendent of the Year to a student in the high school from which the superintendent graduated or the school now serving the same area.

Heath Morrison is a member of The Broad Superintendents Academy Class of 2009.
