WENDY ROBINSON
The Broad Superintendents Academy Class of 2002
Superintendent
Fort Wayne Community Schools, Ind.
“I strongly believe that the social, cultural and economic health of a community is measured by the strength of its public schools. This is especially true in urban districts, where children of all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds learn and play together. This diversity often causes urban districts complex challenges as they strive to meet the needs of their students.”
In July 2003, Wendy Robinson was appointed superintendent of the Fort Wayne Community Schools in Indiana, serving more than 32,000 students in 55 schools. She began her career with the Fort Wayne district in 1973 as a third-grade teacher. With more than 30 years experience in education, she has served as a teacher, assistant principal, elementary school principal and a district area administrator. Before being appointed superintendent, Robinson served as the district‘s deputy superintendent for nearly a decade. Committed to education and community, she has developed partnerships that encourage all residents to work cooperatively as educational advocates for the children of the Fort Wayne Community Schools. In addition to her role on the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance board of directors, Robinson is active on numerous community boards and advisory committees. She has a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., a master’s degree in education administration from Indiana/Purdue University and a doctorate in education from Ball State University. Robinson is a graduate of the 2002 class of The Broad Superintendents Academy.
